Black and White flyer in support of LACMA Janitors. The banner at the top reads, "Friday Night at the Museum -- Janitor Jazz presents Mopman vs. Marriott," and features two caricature drawings, one of a luchador character with a mustache and superhero outfit (Mopman) and the other, a scowling man in a suit carrying a bat labelled F. Marriott. At the bottom of the flyer, large text reads "Mopman, and his trusty assistants, say "No More union-busting contractors paid for by taxpayers!" and "I support LACMA janitors"

Janitor Jazz at the Museum

Following the victory in Century City, SEIU Local 399 took on building service contractors across Los Angeles during the early 1990s. At the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) janitorial work was contracted to the Marriott Corp. To put pressure on Marriott, union members picketed the popular Jazz at the Museum event, asking patrons to sign a petition in support of workers’ demands. This flyer featured the janitor superhero, Mopman. Learn more about Justice for Janitors.
