A large demonstration marches under signs for "Arriving Flights" and "Departing flights" at LAX, the airport looming in the background. Many of the marchers are wearing orange safety vests and dropping a piece of yellow caution tape as they march. Hundreds are visible behind them including religious leaders in their garb.

The March Begins, LAX 2006

In 2006, hotels along Century Blvd. outside of Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) were mainly nonunion. Local 11’s airport campaign involved widespread participation from communities near the airport, politicians, and other who supported hotel workers’ right to organize. This image captures the opening moments of the march eastward on Century Blvd.
